Review: The Cabin in the Woods

SPOILER DISCUSSION

  1. I couldn’t stop laughing when Marty dared Jules to make out with the wolf. The build-up of the scene is intentionally sexual because that’s what the Elder ones (the market) wants, but it’s perverse and hilarious because of how long and sensual it is. I love how much Hutchinson gets into it. She puts a lot of energy into her antics and it really makes everything more funny.

    2. Curt’s death is brilliant. I love how the music builds up and is hopeful and climactic. As it starts to crescendo he goes and the expectation is that he makes it across. Knowing that he’s going to crash makes the scene so much more funny. It’s messed up but I couldn’t stop laughing knowing that he was going to just plop into the wall. I love how the sound changes and becomes more depressing. The movie playing it straight like a horror situation keeps the meta-feeling of the movie subtler.
